Cancun with Kids! If you are looking for things to do in Cancun with kids, there are gazillions of options. Besides just hanging out on the incredible beaches with warm waters, you might choose to venture inland to see one of the nearby Mayan sites.
As a rule, we try to do most of our travels on our own, staying away from large tour groups and guided outings. We gain a much more authentic experience, there is no hurry and its always cheaper.
However, we heard about a company called AllTourNative that specializes in small adventure tours for all ages. We decided to go with them rather than rent a car and drive ourselves into the jungle areas of the Yucatan like we have in the past.
AllTourNative was a fantastic experience. We were picked up at our hotel: Dreams Resort Cancun in a small mirobus. The driver and guide were really great with the kids and the entire group was fun. The Ek Balam pyramid ruins were an experience in themselves and deserve a different post.
After Ek Balam, our group headed over to nearby Cenote Maya. This huge underground cavern is massive and lit up by natural “Indiana Jones” beams of light striking the waters below. The kids were first to descend into the darkness by the safe staff on hand. Other staff were waiting in the water with rafts and helped unhook the guests. You can take a tunnel stair access down to the water if you don’t want to rappel.
Once inside this natural wonder, refreshing clear waters with platforms for diving, rope swings, rope bridges and more awaited the guests. The kids had a blast swimming and jumping in this adventure wonderland. The guides were great and very knowledgeable about the local area.
After our swim a fantastic buffet lunch with Mexican and local Mayan foods awaited us. Everything is nearby to Cancun Hotel Zone and is a great “AllTourNative” to the very long and sometimes overcrowded trip to Chichen-Itza which really deserves an overnight stay.
AllTourNative’s day trips to the local areas are great fun, perfect for families and really give a sense of adventure and discovery in the tropical Mayan Jungle. Highly Recommended.
