This #WildWednesday, we visit one of our favorite places to commune with nature on a family safari to South Africa. We love family vacations in South Africa for many reasons…the people are so welcoming and friendly, the culture is rich with music and dancing, the history is recent and relevant, and, of course, the wildlife is out of this world! Below are some of our favorite family safari moments:
- This lion yawning captured our guests attention on a safari in Madikwe, South Africa. They were so entranced by watching the lion that they didn’t even notice the giraffe stroll right behind their jeep!
2) This pumped up teenager tried to give our guests a scare trumpeting and charging towards our jeep in Timbuvati Game Reserve near Kruger National Park in South Africa.
3) This rhino thought it was time for the female’s son to leave the nest. So, he game him quite a chase…right around our two jeeps in Timbuvati Game Reserve. I never knew rhinos could sound so much like pigs!
4) This lion spent about fifteen minutes calling to his brother by roaring…right next to our jeep in Madikwe Game Reserve in South Africa. His brother showed up and they began to look for food to hunt.
5) We found out “Elephant Have the Right of Way” in this encounter as they headed straight for us down a road in Madikwe Game Reserve in South Africa.
6) This lion gave us a bit of a start as he passed within a foot of our jeep after watching him languidly drinking water
7) This rhino had a fright when he realized our jeep was behind the bush he was munching on in Madikwe Game Reserve, South Africa
